Xiaomi ventured into the wearable market in 2014 and the brand witnessed success following the debut of the Xiaomi Mi Band 4. For a price, at INR 2,299 the Mi Band 4 really fills the space of a good fitness tracker with a bright display, basic workout modes, and durable battery backup. The Chinese OEM seems to buckle up for the launch of its next-generation Mi fitness band- the Xiaomi Mi Band 5.
A recent post (via Playfuldroid) from Weibo (the Chinese micro-blogging site) revealed that there will be a live event on April 3 at 2 PM (local time) in China. Further, a poster from Xiaomi Smart Inn Mi Fan Festival which is shared by GizChina suggests that the company will likely 22 new products- perhaps the new fitness band could be one of the product in the list given the Weibo post has shared Xiaomi’s total shipment record of wearable devices from IDC’s Global Wearable Smart Device Report 2014-2019.
To recall, Huami (the exclusive wearable technology provider for Xiaomi) last year confirmed to be working on Mi Band 5. The Mi Band 4 was launched in June and if the report is to be believed the Mi Band 5 will see an early debut.

Although the NFC variant of MI Band 4 is made available only in China, the Mi Band 5’s global model is tipped to support NFC as well. The tracker will likely have support for contactless payments like Google Pay and Mi Pay.
