In a bid to grapple novel corona pandemic and stop the spread of misinformation that’s roving on the internet World Health Organization (WHO) has come up with an effective measure to tackle the issue. For this WHO partnering with Facebook-owned WhatsApp has launched a chatbot that will provide credible coronavirus information.
The official WHO channel on WhatsApp will give you details on any COVID-19 related questions and up to date authentic information. To use the chatbot all you need to do is add this number +41 79 893 18 92 to your contact or join the conversation via this link. Once you’ve added the number, open WhatsApp and refresh your contact list (if you can’t see the number in your account), then open the WHO chatbot, type “hi” and send it to WHO Health Alert. A menu will pop-up and you can navigate by either typing the relevant number or the emoji related to the information you want to receive regarding Coronavirus aka COVID-19.
At present, the chatbot provides a series of prompts, for instance, the latest numbers across the world related to the outbreak, tips and FAQs on the respiratory disease, travel advice, and latest news from the health organization. WHO cites that WhatsApp which has an outreach to over 2 billion people it will enable the health organization to get information directly into the hands of those who need it.
To recall, WhatsApp just two days back launched its very own Coronavirus Information Hub in collaboration with UNICEF, WHO, and UNDP. The hub provides general tips and resources for users across the globe so that they get accurate and reliable health information and also reduce the spread of rumors.
With these initiatives, it will help reduce the panic among people to an extent and help them get better information to avoid the infection.
