WhatsApp For Android Gets Dark Mode With Latest Beta Update

The latest beta version of the WhatsApp for Android has something special for you. The Facebook-owned company has added native dark mode to the app and is being pushed only for the beta testers. The update was pushed through the Google Play Beta Program. If you are part of the WhatsApp for Android beta, you will receive the update. You should manually install the WhatsApp v2.20.13 beta or higher to work with the Dark Mode functionality.

The company regularly pushes updates to the beta channel and hence the version number is subject to variations. Another important thing is the WhatsApp Dark Theme is only available to Android users right now, which means iOS users will have to wait a bit more for the new feature.

WhatsApp Dark Theme: How To Activate Dark Mode in WhatsApp

After the installation of the WhatsApp for Android update, you should enable the Dark Mode by navigating to Settings > Chats > Display > Theme. You will switch to Dark Mode from the Theme option located under Display. If you select Theme, you will view three options namely Set by Battery Saver, Light and Dark. You can choose an option based on your requirements. The messaging app will make use of a dark grey background. Moreover, the chat window will employ green colored bubbles to enhance the readability.

Alternatively, it is also possible to activate Dark Mode based on the system theme and the battery saver mode. However, these options will be visible only is your work with the latest version of Android.

Download WhatsApp Beta for Android APK

Even if you are not part of the WhatsApp beta club, you can manually download the APK file to work with the feature. However, downloading of APK file is prone to security issues such as malware and spyware. You should always adopt safe route by enrolling yourself in the beta channel not only for the Dark Mode but also for other upcoming features.

With the availability of the Dark Mode feature in the beta platform, the company will most likely throw open to the general public within the next few days. The app is being constantly upgraded as per the changing times.

Moreover, the company has stopped support for Windows mobile smartphones and outdated Android platforms citing an inability to infuse the new features. Going forward, WhatsApp will be made available only for the latest Android operating platform due to the increase in security vulnerabilities.
