Tecno Mobiles – a Shenzhen-based Chinese mobile phone manufacturer is all set to launch a new smartphone named Tecno Pova – the company’s first budget gaming-centric smartphone in the Nepali market. Tecno Pova is the first in a new series of smartphones from the Transsion Holdings-owned company.
According to our sources close to the company, the smartphone will be launched by the third week of this month. Except for Tecno Pova’s price in Nepal, all the details of its specifications are already known since it has already gone official in other countries such as the Philippines, India, etc.
Tecno Pova is aimed at users who are looking for an affordable gaming phone. Some of the notable features of the smartphone include quad cameras, a massive 6,000mAh battery, and the MediaTek Helio G80 SoC.
With the upcoming launch of the Tecno Pova, the China-based Tecno Mobile will hope to rival other budget smartphones in the country such as Xiaomi’s Redmi 9, the POCO M2, the Moto G9, etc. The company already offers a range of affordable phones in Nepal such as the Tecno Camon 15 Pro and the Tecno Spark 5 Pro.
With this, Tecno has three distinct product lines: Pova for gamers, Camon for photographers, and Spark for the affordable segment.
Aimed at power users, the Tecno Pova offers decent specs for the price, boasting a massive 6.8-inch display that supports an HD+ resolution of 1640 x 720 pixels and a tall aspect ratio of 20.5:9. The peak brightness is listed as 480 nits.
Coming to the internals, the smartphone is powered by a 2×2.0 GHz, 6×1.8 GHz Octa-core core MediaTek Helio G80 chipset coupled with up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 256 GB via a microSD card slot. MediaTek’s HyperEngine suite of gaming features is also available. There’s also a multi-layer graphite cooling system for better thermal performance.
For photography and videography, the Tecno Pova on its rear houses a rectangular-shaped camera module that houses a quad-camera setup with a 16-megapixel f/1.85 main camera, a 2-megapixel macro lens, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 2-megapixel AI camera. The smartphone also has an 8-megapixel f/2.0 front camera housed in the display notch at the top left corner for capturing selfie shots.
The phone’s camera app supports modes like macro mode, night portrait, slow-motion video, video bokeh, video beauty, auto-scene detection, AI face beauty, AR emoji, and more. It can also shoot slow-motion videos at 120fps.
Other specifications include a large 6,000mAh battery with 18W dual IC fast charging. With that, it has a weight of 213 grams and a thickness of 9.4mm. There’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack and a dual-SIM card slot. The smartphone also runs Android 10 with HiOS 7.0 out-of-the-box. There is also a fingerprint scanner available on the backside of the handset.
Lastly, the phone has Game Assistant 2.0 and Game Space that are said to enhance users’ gaming experience.
There are two variants of Tecno Pova available our of which only the higher-end variant i.e. 6GB o RAM and 128GB of storage will be launched in the Nepali market for an expected price of Rs. 20,490. The company will also provide 100 days of replacement warranty on the device.
