Sony has revealed the hardware specifications of the next-generation PlayStation 5 console. The PS5 comprises of ultra-high-speed SSD, customized AMD graphics with ray tracing, integrated custom I/O system including highly immersive 3D audio. The PlayStation 5 enables developers to enhance their creative skills coupled with new play experiences.

Mark Cerny, who works as the lead system architect for PS5 delves deep into the system’s architecture of the hardware. Moreover, he explains the benefits of the PS5 for the developers and the games they create for the customers.

The PlayStation 5 includes ultra-high-speed SSD and integrated custom I/O system, which breaks the barriers to enhance the loading screens. You will be able to stream assets into PS5 games quickly for a seamless and dynamic experience. While developers can create larger and richer worlds without any limitations, gamers will be able to experience lag-free gaming sessions.

The Sony PlayStation 5 provides support for 3D audio, which enables you to enjoy an immersive audio experience. The company has designed a custom engine for the audio coupled with power and efficiency. The sound output offers an improved presence and locality during extreme gaming sessions including raindrops.

The Sony Playstation 5 ships with x86-64-AMD Ryzen “Zen 2” processor with 8 cores and 16 threads. The processor can crank up to 3.5GHz. On the graphics segment, the PS5 includes AMD Radeon RDNA 2-based graphics engine with support for ray tracing acceleration.

Under the hood, the PS5 bears a 16GB RAM with a bandwidth of 448GB/s. The 825GB SSD storage space offers 5.5GB/s read bandwidth. The PlayStation provides support for Ultra HD Blu-ray disc with up to 100GB/disc including 4K, 8K, and VRR capabilities.

The audio part comes with the tempest 3D audio tech technology for an immersive experience. The PS5 is backward compatible with PS4 titles. The company tested 100PS titles with the upcoming PS5. Moreover, the testing process for more than 400 PS4 games is going on a war footing speed.

Sony PlayStation 5 Pricing & Availability

The Sony PlayStation 5 is expected to launch before the end of Q2 2020 at a higher price tag. With the revelation of the specifications, the launch can be expected soon. However, the official launch could be delayed beyond Q2 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
