Reliance Jio To Unveil JioMeet To Compete With Google Meet And Zoom

Within days after the acquisition of a minority stake by Facebook, Reliance Jio is reportedly gearing up to launch the next-generation video conferencing solution JioMeet. Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) disclosed the plans to unveil the JioMeet platform while declaring the Q4 2019 results on April 30. The new tool will be launched under the Jio Platforms subsidiary, where Facebook has claimed a 9.9% stake to the tune of over INR 44,000 crores.

The company claims that JioMeet will offer HD quality experience across a wide range of devices. You will be able to login using email ID and password to join a conferencing session. Moreover, JioMeet will also provide OTP login functionality including the ability to join a video conference as a guest.

According to reports, JioMeet will be available on Android and iOS devices including Windows and macOS computers. The company will also provide a plugin for Microsoft Outlook email client including extensions for Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox.

Reliance JioMeet Spotted on App Stores

Interestingly, the Reliance JioMeet app was spotted on Google Play Store and Apple App Store by a few media people immediately after the announcement by the company.

As of this writing, we are unable to find any listings. The company also created a dedicated landing page for the JioMeet with the URL – with the list of features initially. However, the page now displays the logo along with the caption “Thank you for your interest in JioMeet.”

In the past, Reliance Jio had launched JioChat and JioGroup apps with support for voice and video group calls. The imminent launch of JioMeet will be a deal-breaker since it changes the way you interact with people digitally. You will be able to experience the features of advanced platforms like Zoom.

The launch of JioMeet assumes significance with competing platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet attracts people with innovative features. The need for the requirement of video conferencing tools has grown significantly post COVID-19 outbreak.

Talking about the actual launch of the JioMeet, we don’t have any confirmation from the company. Going by the past experience, we expect the company to rollout JioMeet to select a group of users followed by a wider push. The company will probably conduct a beta trial among the company staff members and tech enthusiasts to gauge the feedback.
