Redmi, Xiaomi’s sub-brand, is running a good run in all sorts of products and the company is continuously expanding its portfolio of products that includes smartphones, smart home appliances, TVs, etc. Now, the brand has also made its debut into wearables with the launch of its first smart fitness band dubbed as the Redmi Band.
The Redmi Band is an entry-level fitness tracker and comes with a lower price tag compared to the cheapest offering from Mi. The band has been launched in China and for now, it will be crowdfunded for 95 Yuan (~approx. INR 1,000) from 9th April 2020. However, the company has also announced the retail price for the Redmi Band i.e. 99 Yuan (~approx. INR 1,090).
Redmi Band: Specifications and Features
The Redmi Band boasts a 1.08-inch rectangular AMOLED color display, which is touch responsive. The design of the band is simple and would remind one of the similar wearables in the market from Honor and Realme.
As for fitness and health tracking, the Redmi Band comes with 5 sports modes and even has an optical heart rate sensor to monitor heart rates during exercises as well as throughout the day. It even has direct USB charging support with a built-in USB-A charging port similar to the Realme Band and Honor Band 5i.
You also get sedentary alerts, reminders, and more in tow as the software remains the same as Xiaomi’s Mi Band.
The Redmi Band also has a sleep monitoring feature to help users to reach their sleep goals. In terms of battery backup, Redmi claims a 14-day battery life from a full charge, which is not at all bad for a budget fitness tracker. This is something we have to check it out to know better.
Being an entry-level as well as a first-ever fitness band from the brand, the Redmi Band lacks NFC support for contactless payments, which is found on its parent company Xiaomi’s Mi Band 4.
Redmi Band Price and Availability
The Redmi Band is priced at CNY 99 (~ INR 1090) and will go on sale in China starting April 9. Redmi is yet to confirm whether the Redmi Band will be launched in India. We hope it does as we are looking forward to testing it out.
The Redmi Band is available in black but users can choose between four different color options for vibrant band straps i.e. olive green, orange, blue and black.
