Motorola Edge+ and Motorola Edge

Motorola is well known for offering budget phones with decent Android experience. But the Lenovo owned brand now seems to be shifting gear to take on popular brands like Samsung and Huawei. Motorola has launched two new phones under its Edge series – the flagship Motorola Edge+ and the regular Motorola Edge smartphone.

Both devices share a similar screen size and design. The Motorola Edge+ and Edge feature “Endless Edge” display with curved edges that make the glass appear to flow seamlessly on both ends. If you take a close look, the design appears nothing different than what Samsung, Huawei or even OPPO chiseled on its devices years back.

However, Motorola has added a few tricks to its new Edge lineup to give a refreshing look. You can have quick access to your favorite apps by tapping on the side of the devices (reminds us of HTC’s Edge Sense, where instead of tapping you had to squeeze to activate certain features). The new Moto phones offer two virtual buttons for supported games. Moreover, Motorola has even added the option to disable the edges entirely and use just the ‘non-curved’ part.

The flagship Motorola Edge+ gets a few extra goodies besides powerful hardware and better camera configuration. The phone bundles Moto Gametime feature that was introduced on the Moto G Stylus and Moto G Power. It includes Moto Display and Moto Action as well.

The new Moto Edge+ is the first from the company to ship with Motorola’s new software customization suite- ‘My Suite UX’ that allows customizing app icons, font, fingerprint sensor animations, etc. the Motorola Edge+ ships with 15W wireless charging and 5W wireless power-sharing as well.

The regular Moto Edge doesn’t pack these features, however, Motorola has embedded Waves-tune dual stereo speakers on the phone (on the Moto Edge+ too). The Wave MaxxAudio Mobile suite is claimed to offer a superior audio experience.

Both devices run stock Android 10 to offer a clutter-free Android experience. As or biometrics, the new Moto Edge series feature in-display (optical) fingerprint sensor.
