It’s been two years since we witnessed Microsoft’s dual-core Intel Pentium Gold SoC powered touchscreen tablet, Microsoft Surface Go. While speculations on the table indicated the launch of its second iteration this month, the Redmond-based company finally took the wraps off its new tablet- the Microsoft Surface Go 2.
Alongside, Microsoft has launched a slew of other products including the new Surface Book 3 laptop, Surface Earbuds, Surface Headphones 2.
The new Surface Go 2 tablet and the Surface Book 3 don’t mark any significant changes in terms of design, however, Microsoft has added a noticeable upgrade in the hardware segment.

Microsoft Surface Go 2: Specifications & Features
The new Microsoft Surface Go 2 features a 10.5-inch display instead of a 10-inch panel found on the predecessor. The resolution has been bumped up as well at 1920 x 1080 pixels although the aspect ratio has been kept the same at 3:2.
The body hasn’t changed either but what you now get a slightly bigger display with thinner side bezels for better viewing experience. Battery life has been improved too and it is rated to deliver 10 hours usage on a single charge.
Underneath the body sits an Intel Core processor. Microsoft has unveiled two variants of the Surface Go 2 tablet. The base variant packs an Intel Pentium Gold chipset paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB eMMC storage. The high-end variant equips an 8th Gen Intel Core M processor coupled with 8 GB of RAM and 128GB SSD storage.
As for the other aspects, the new tablet includes Microsoft’s Surface Connector for charging, a headphone jack, a USB-C port, a 5MP webcam, dual studio microphones, and a microSD card slot.
Microsoft Surface Go 2: Price and Availability

The new Microsoft tablet will be available for purchase starting May 12 in western markets- Canada, Japan, Australia, the US, UK, Japan, and European countries. Microsoft’s Surface Type Covers (available in multiple colors) has also been showcased for a price starting at $99.
Microsoft Surface Book 3: Specifications and Features
The Microsoft Surface Book 3 portable PC has been launched in two versions- 13.5-inch and 15-inch. The 2-in-1 detachable (works both as a laptop and a tablet) Surface Book 3 has 10 point multi-touch.
Microsoft has implemented Intel 10th gen ‘Ice Lake‘ Core i5 processor on the base variant and Core i7 processor on the high-end variant. As for graphics, the 13.5-inch model features a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q GPU while the 15-inch model sports an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660Ti and Quadro RTX 3000 GPUs.
Both the models support WiFi-6 (802.11ax compatible) and Bluetooth v5.0. The built-in Xbox Wireless is exclusive to the high-end variant.
In terms of battery backup, the base model is claimed to deliver 15.5 hours usage (while connected to the keyboard), meanwhile, the high-end model is rated to deliver 17.5 hours of battery life.
As for the other specs the Surface Book 3 includes- two USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A ports, one USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C port, two Surface Connect ports, an SDXC card slot, dual far-field studio microphones, backlit keyboard, a 5MP front camera, and an 8MP rear camera.

Microsoft Surface Headphones 2, Surface Earbuds: Specifications and Features
Alongside the Surface Go 2 and Surface Book 3, Microsoft has launched a bunch of accessories as well.
A new version of its Surface headphones, the Microsoft Surface Headphones 2 comes with active noise cancellation which can be adjusted. The ear cups can rotate 180 degrees and on-ear dials can be used to adjust the volume. The ANC is claimed to have been tuned for human voices.
The new Microsoft headphones support Bluetooth v5.0 and comply with Qualcomm’s aptX Bluetooth codec. Microsoft claims that the new Surface Headphones 2 can deliver up to 20 hours of battery backup.
As for the Microsoft Surface Earbuds, the new true wireless earphones feature touch controls, Spotify integration, voice call support, and dictation feature of Microsoft Office. The IPX4 rated Surface Earbuds are said to offer a day’s worth of usage.
Microsoft Surface Headphones 2, Surface Earbuds: Price and Availability
The new version of the headphones available in Black or Pentium color options is priced at $249 and it will go on sale starting May 12.
The Microsoft Surface Earbuds carries a price tag of $199. Available in Glacier color option it will go on sale from May 12.
These premium products are no doubt aimed for a strife competition against Microsoft’s rivals. Apple AirPods competitor the Surface Earbuds are set to ship next week, but given the recent pandemic, the shipment to a wider mass might likely be delayed.
