Huawei GT2e smartwatch to debut alongside Huawei P40 series, confirms company

Huawei the brand known for offering great specs flagship series with impressive cameras (most likely to brawl Samsung and Google) expanded its product portfolio in 2015 by introducing its first Android Wear-based Huawei Watch. Adding wearables to its smartwatch lineup, the Chinese brand launched Huawei GT 2 last year. However, the fresh news that is making rounds on the internet is Huawei’s upcoming smartwatch Huawei GT2e.

The Chinese OEM is preparing for its next big launch- flagship P40 series which is set to debut on March 26. Alongside the new P40 series smartphones, Huawei will announce the Huawei GT2e smartwatch as well. The confirmation comes via the company’s official Twitter handle where it shared a teaser video and the launch date.

The short 9-second clip didn’t reveal much detail but leaks on the table gave a fair glimpse of the design and what the new smartwatch will carry (spec-wise).

Huawei GT2e renders leaked by Winfuture.de reveal a round-shaped dial and three color variants- black, red and green.

Huawei GT2e Specifications [Expected]

As per the report, the Huawei GT2e is said to feature a 1.39-inch AMOLED panel similar to the Huawei GT2 smartwatch. The display will likely have a higher resolution of 454 x 454 pixels. The smartwatch will equip a HiSilicon Hi1132 (ARM Cortex-M3) chipset and is said to include 4 GB RAM.

Huawei GT2e is expected to sport a 46mm dial and pack a 455mAh battery that will deliver up to 14 days of usage. The smartwatch will support Bluetooth v5.1.

If reports are anything to go by, then the upcoming Huawei GT2e will be nothing but a facelift of the original version- Huawei GT2. However, the Chinese brand is expected to bring some upgrades to the software front. Winfuture.de has predicted that the new smartwatch could cost around €200.

As for Huawei’s flagship P40 series, reports suggest that the smartphones might feature a bezel-less curved display with in-display dual front cameras, Leica branded lenses and Kirin 990 5G chipset. Rumors suggest that there could be Huawei P40 Pro Premium Edition that will have 10x zooming capability, 6.7-inch display and a massive 12 GB of RAM.

More leaks are expected to follow prior to its official debut next week. We will keep a close on the upcoming Huawei P40 series, stay tuned for launch details.
