Microsoft is in the finishing round of preparations to roll out its first major update for Windows 10 this Spring. And, the company has already started rolling out the final build for the Windows 10 May 2020 Update (also referred to Windows 10 20H1 or Windows 10 version 2004) for Windows Insiders in the Release Preview ring across the globe.
Today, we will be taking a look at how to install Windows 10 May 2020 Update (also known as Windows 10 20H1) on your PC or laptop.
Install Windows 10 May 2020 Update via Release Preview Ring
Before moving on to the steps, make sure you are on the Release Preview ring. To get the Windows May 2020 Update join the Windows 10 Insider Program with your Microsoft account (MSA) or Azure Active Directory (AAD) account and join your Windows PC to the Release Preview ring under the following mentioned steps.
Step 1: Turn on your PC and go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Insider Program and click the “Get started” button.
Step 2: Now, link your Microsoft account or Azure Active Directory account. This should be the email account that you used to register for the Windows Insider Program.
Step 3: On the new pop-up window, select “Just fixes, apps, and drivers” to join the Release Preview ring and get the Windows 10 May 2020 update.
Step 4: Click on “Confirm” to confirm the legal stuff.
Step 5: Now, click on “Restart Now” to ensure your PC is now in the Release Preview ring.
Note: Without restarting your Windows PC, your PC won’t be fully be joined. A restart is required.
Step 6: After rebooting your PC, double-check your Windows Insider Program settings by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Insider Program and make sure it shows “Release Preview” under “What pace do you want to get new builds?”.
Step 7: Now, if you go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and press the “Check for updates” button – your PC should receive the Windows 10 May 2020 Update.
Once your PC or laptop is on the Windows 10 May 2020 Update, Microsoft will continue to release Cumulative Updates to improve your experience.
