Google is yet to complete the acquisition of Fitbit. The paperwork seems to have been delayed due to the shutdown of their offices. However, Fitbit seems to be proceeding fast to unveil the next-generation Fitbit Charge 4 and is evident from the leaked images via the FCC and retail listings.
If the leak turns out to be true, you can expect the availability of the Fitbit Charge 4 in Black and Rosewood color variants. We also expect the availability of the Storm Blue/Black and Granite special editions.
Fitbit Charge 4 Specifications and Features
The design looks identical to that of the Fitbit Charge 3, which was released in October 2018. You can expect modifications to the internal chipset. The Fitbit logo is placed below the display and looks Grayscale. Moreover, the screen seems to be made up of OLED technology with always-on-display.
The upgraded watch face will help the watch to display large numerals, data and activity stats. Moreover, the integrated button on the display is rumored to provide support for haptic feedback.
Talking about the rear side, we could see the presence of an optical heart rate monitor and relative SpO2 sensor. The Fitbit Charge 4 will ship with magnetic charging since we can see three charging connectors on the rear. The cutout in the case accommodates the altimeter to count stairs.
The upcoming Fitbit Charge 4 will be designed in such a way that watchbands can be removed with a single click. With the same dimensions, you can expect the same set of accessories and charging cable to ship with the new edition. You will be able to raise your arm or squeeze to activate the display just like the Charge 3.
According to rumors, the Fitbit Charge 4 will provide support for NFC using which you can pay for various services.
That being said, Fitbit will continue to release Charge series smartwatches until Google completes the acquisition process. You can then expect Google-branded Charge watches by the end of 2020 when the deal becomes the reality.
Fitbit Charge 4 Price and Availability
The Fitbit Charge 4 is expected to cost GBP 139, which is GBP 10 higher than the Charge 3. The specifications have been leaked and we expect the launch before the end of Q2 2020.
