The extension applies to iPhone 14 users who activated their devices before November 15, 2023, in countries that support the feature. These countries include the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland.
Apple initially offered two years of free service for Emergency SOS via satellite. This extension brings the total complimentary period to three years. After the three years are over, users will be charged a subscription fee to continue using the service.
In addition to extending the complimentary period for Emergency SOS via satellite, Apple is also adding support for more countries and regions. The service will be available in additional countries in the coming months.
